bh Single-Zone Triggers

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the bh Triggers come in a set?
Yes! The bh Triggers are available in a 5-pack.

Can I purchase a single trigger?
Yes! The bh triggers are also sold individually.

Are the Black Holes sold individually?
Yes.

Do the bh Triggers work with all mesh heads?
No. The bh Triggers are designed to work only with the Black Hole Practice System.

How do I install bh Triggers onto Black Holes?
Simply line up the groove on the trigger casing to the rubber rim and press down firmly.

What output do the bh Triggers use?
The bh Triggers use a Jack output. We recommend using TS cables over TRS to reduce double-triggering.

I am experiencing some double triggering on my snare. How can I fix this issue?
There are several setting adjustments on your module you can make to reduce/eliminate double triggering:

  • Threshold – the Threshold setting essentially tells your module to ignore aftershock hits. Try raising the threshold a bit to ignore false triggers.
  • Mask Time – after your module receives a verified hit, the Mask Time tells your module to wait “X” number of milliseconds before accepting more trigger impulses. This is especially helpful for bass drum triggering.
  • Retrigger Cancel – if all else fails, try slightly increasing the Retrigger Cancel setting. However, doing so will increase latency, so you should hold off on this unless adjusting the Threshold and Mask Time settings doesn’t work.

In addition, to adjusting your module’s parameters, we also suggest placing one Moongel onto your mylar head and a second Moongel onto your Black Hole head in front of the bh Trigger.
